NADA Issues Notice to Vinesh Phogat

On September 9, an incident occurred when a Dope Control Officer (DCO) was dispatched to her home in Kharkhauda village of Sonipat. Unfortunately, the DCO was unable to conduct the test as Vinesh was not present at her reported location. As per NADA regulations, failing to report one’s whereabouts constitutes a breach of the anti-doping guidelines, which has resulted in this notice.

In the formal notice sent to her, NADA has provided Vinesh with the opportunity to clarify her situation before any final decisions are made regarding potential sanctions. The notice explicitly states, “You have been formally notified about the clear failure to comply with the requirements regarding the location of residence under the anti-doping rules. You are requested to explain this oversight before NADA decides on the next course of action.” This gives Vinesh a crucial chance to present her case.
Vinesh now faces a critical decision: either she must acknowledge the violation or present evidence to demonstrate that she was indeed available at her residence for the requisite 60-minute window during which the DCO tried to locate her. It is important to clarify that a failure to provide accurate residential information alone does not constitute a violation of anti-doping rules unless such incidents occur three times within a span of 12 months.
