Today, on 7th April 2025, Tata Motors is facing the heat of the US tariffs. The company’s share prices declined by 10% after it temporarily paused JLR exports to the US. Tata Motors based this decision on the US administration’s imposition of 25% tariffs. 

JLR is one of Tata Motors’ strong players and depends entirely on exporting its vehicles. To meet the US market’s demand, JLR Shipped 38,000 cars to the US in the last quarter of 2024. The US is a crucial market for JLR, and the sudden halt triggered a decrease in trading volumes, and investors are extremely cautious.

In a statement, JLR noted they were planning to implement short-term measures, such as a shipment halt in April while formulating mid-term and long-term strategies. The main focus of the strategy would be to engage with their business partners to address the new trading arrangements.

Today, Tata Motors’ shares opened to the market at Rs. 560.50 and are currently down by 7.95% compared to the last close (Friday) of Rs. 613.85. The share price has made a slow recovery since its fall.

At 11:30 a.m., Tata Motors traded its shares for the price of Rs. 566.50 It is nearly 1.1% higher than the opening rate. And 7% lower than its previous close. According to the reports and estimates on Money Control, the current market capitalization shows 208,290 cores; the UC Limit is 644.55, and the LC Limit is 521.80.

The financial results for the third quarter of FY 2024–2025 disclosed that Tata Motors’ sales grew by 2.7% to Rs. 113,575 crores against Q3 of the previous year. The company’s net income, however, fell 22.5% to Rs. 5,578 crore.
