The movie shows us the past of the protagonist, Steven Nedumpally, against an ominous political thriller. The movie was made with a budget of 180 crores. With the record of ‘highest pre-sale booking of Malayalam films’ Empuraan closed its advance bookings at 85 crores. 49 crores flushed in from international theatres while Indian theatres fetched 36 crores. Sachnilk already reported that Empuraan’s box office collection crossed 7 crores.
