Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has begun shooting for his upcoming war film, “Battle of Galwan”, in the rugged terrains of Leh and Ladakh. The movie is directed by Apoorva Lakhia and is based on the real-life 2020 clash between Indian and Chinese forces in the Galwan Valley. Salman shared a gripping behind-the-scenes photo dressed in an Indian Army uniform, showing his intense look with a moustache and battle-ready appearance.
Story and Cast Highlights
“Battle of Galwan” centers on the fierce stand-off between India and China, portraying the bravery, sacrifice, and resilience of Indian soldiers during this historic face-off. The film highlights the battle that took place more than 15,000 feet above sea level, with a motto that India fought one of its most brutal battles without firing a single bullet.
Alongside Salman Khan, the film stars Chitrangda Singh, marking their first on-screen collaboration. The cast also includes Abhilash Chaudhary, Ankur Bhatia, Vipin Bhardwaj, and others in crucial roles. The music is composed by Himesh Reshammiya, promising an emotional and stirring soundtrack.
Intense Preparation and Shooting Challenges
Salman Khan has undergone rigorous training to prepare for this physically demanding role. He has adapted to low-oxygen high-altitude conditions by training in a special pressure chamber and following a strict fitness routine, including no alcohol and a low-carb diet. The shoot involves challenging elements such as running, kicking, punching, and exposure to freezing water, described by Salman as the most physically demanding shoot of his career.
The film’s climax sequences, highly anticipated for their emotional depth and action, are being shot urgently in Ladakh’s unpredictable weather, aiming for high-quality production. The filming may continue for several weeks in these demanding locations before shifting elsewhere.
Current Engagement and Film Outlook
While shooting for “Battle of Galwan,” Salman also hosts the popular TV show Bigg Boss Season 19. The movie is slated for a theatrical release in January 2026, promising to be a powerful tribute to Indian soldiers and a different kind of action drama in Bollywood’s landscape.
