They Call Him OG, starring Pawan Kalyan, has made a thunderous impact at the box office, crossing the ₹150 crore mark worldwide on its very first day. This Telugu gangster action drama is setting new records and has become one of the biggest openings this year.
Massive Global Opening
According to official reports, OG minted ₹154 crore globally on day one. The film earned ₹91 crore net in India alone, including ₹20 crore from paid premiere shows. Around ₹50 crore came from overseas markets like North America and Southeast Asia, with the US paid premieres bringing in $3 million (about ₹26 crore). This big debut places OG among the top 10 all-time Indian film openings and is the biggest for a non-pan-India Telugu film so far.
Unmatched Player on Box Office
Trade analyst Sacnilk noted the film’s remarkable start with ₹63.7 crore net earned on opening day in India and an additional ₹13.54 crore net added by Friday evening. The two-day domestic total nears ₹100 crore. OG also holds the record for the highest premiere-day collection of 2025 in North America for an Indian film.
About the OG Movie
They Call Him OG, directed by Sujeeth and produced by DVV Entertainments, follows the story of Ojas Gambheera (played by Pawan Kalyan), a retired gangster who returns to Mumbai after ten years. The film features Emraan Hashmi as Omi Bhau, a ruthless crime boss whom OG aims to defeat. Priyanka Mohan, Sriya Reddy, Arjun Das, and Prakash Raj also play pivotal roles. The music is by Thaman, contributing to the film’s intense mass appeal.
High Anticipation and Fan Frenzy
Pawan Kalyan’s loyal fans have eagerly awaited this release, especially since he is now Andhra Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister and has stepped back from films to concentrate on politics. The film’s premiere shattered previous records for booking and paid shows. Even other film makers showed respect by temporarily pausing their releases on the same day.
