Despite the controversy and demand for the movie to undergo a second round of edits, Empuraan didn’t lose momentum. After injunctions for edits, Prithviraj reportedly trimmed 24 places, minimising the controversial parts and removing actor Suresh Gopi’s name from the thank you note.

With such impressive achievements, one can only raise one’s expectations and wait to see what the Prithviraj-Mohanala political actioner will do next. Will it reach the 100 crore mark in the domestic theatres? Surpass 300 Crores in worldwide collections?

About L2 Empuraan: Story and Cast

The second part of Lucifer was one of the most anticipated films of 2025. Fans were happy and relieved that the storyline didn’t disappoint them. Empuraan carried itself and relied very little on Lucifer’s success.

The political thriller was written by Murali Gopy and directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran. The story picks up where it ended in the first part, Lucifer. We see Jatin in the CM’s seat after Steven walks away from Kerala. Jatin, consumed by an insatiable desire for greed, makes Kerala susceptible to attacks from other political parties.

While the people suffer from the governmental power struggle, we wonder if Steven (Lucifer) will ever return. The story transitions to his past and shows all the people and the incidents that paved Steven’s way to Khureshi Ab’raam. We see Steven’s old friendships, the turning points that made him Lucifer, and what he would do once he returned to Kerala.

Alongside Mohanlal and Prithviraj, Empuraan has a stellar cast of Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Indrajit Sukumaran, Abhimanyu Singh, Jerome Flynn, and others that shape the core conflict of the film.
