Released on 27th March, L2 Empuraan rode a high tide in its initial days. Although earnings began to slow down after day 5, the film finally reached the 100 crores landmark on Day 13. L2 Empuraan is the first Malayalam movie to join the 100 Crore club, and the producers celebrated their achievement on social media by sharing a picture of Kureshi A’braam (Mohnalal’s character in Empuraan).

Empuraan was released in all languages across the country, and Malayalam always had the highest occupancy rates. Yesterday, L2: Empuraan had an overall 15.32% Malayalam Occupancy.
Empuraan has been making headlines for all the records it broke and set since its release. Its impressive feats and achievements have redefined the borders of the Malayalam movie industry. However, it remains to be seen if Empuraan can recover what it spent. Reports say that the film was produced on a budget of 180 Crores. This means that Empuraan’s journey isn’t over and it still has a map to follow; it’s a question if it can earn 80 crores more from Indian theatres. Earnings have dropped to single-digit crores during the tail ends of the first week, and the box office’s pace is slow; fans and critics are hoping for the best.
About Empuraan: Cast and Story
When the power-hungry and position-obsessed Jatin Ramdas becomes Kerala’s CM, he moves with a selfish agenda to advance himself. In the process, he opens doors for other political parties to set up shop and fight Jatin for power and control. While Kerala’s citizens wonder if their savior, Kureshi A’braam, will ever come back to help them again, the movie shows us Kureshi’s past and his friendship with Zayed. With Zayed’s help, Kureshi returns to Kerala, and the fight against the CM, corruption, and political evils of Kerala ensues.

The Lucifer trilogy was and will be written by Murali Gopy and, like the first two parts, will be directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran. The title of the third part was announced- Lucifer: The Beginning. Details about its shooting are yet to be revealed.
