IMD Issues Orange And Yellow Alerts, Rain and Thunderstorm warning in 16 Districts of Jharkhand

Weather Alert: On March 20th, The Indian Meteorological Department issued 5 alerts to 16 districts in Jharkhand, including the capital Ranchi. The IMD warned the people of thunderstorms and heavy rainfall. Right now, Jharkhand is under three Orange Alerts and one Yellow Alert warning.

The IMD declared possible thunderstorms, heavy rainfall and lightning. It strongly advised people to stay indoors and take refuge in strong shelters. It is advisable to avoid touching electric poles and using tree shades as shelters. The department has urged farmers to not step into their farms today.

Yellow Alert in Ranchi, Jharkhand

At 3 a.m. today, the Ranchi Meteorological Center issued the first and only Yellow alert warning. The regions under this warning are Chatra, Garhwa, Hazaribagh, and Palamu. The centre’s weather report mentioned that these regions might experience thunderstorms and rainfall soon. 

Regions Under Orange Alert In Jharkhand

  • At 5:15 a.m., the first Orange Alert was issued to Chatra, Hazaribagh, Koderma, Latehar, Lohardaga, Ramgarh, and Ranchi.
  • At 5:57 a.m., the IMD, issuing an Orange Alert, said that parts of Bokaro, Dhanbad, and Giridih would experience moderate thunderstorms and rainfall.
  • At 6:27 a.m., the fourth Orange Alert for Godda was issued. Predictions of moderate thunderstorms, lightning, and rainfall followed the alert.
  • At 6:40 a.m., the IMD issued another Orange Alert for Deoghar, Dumka, and Jamtara. Predicting rainfall and thunderstorms in the next 2-3 hours.

These Districts Are Vulnerable To Lightning, Rainfall And Thunderstorms:

Chatra, Garhwa, Hazaribagh, Palamu, Koderma, Latehar, Lohardaga, Ramgarh, Ranchi, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Giridih, Godda, Deoghar, Dumka, and Jamtara these states could have rain with thunderstorms.
