Dipa reminisced about her childhood, saying, “I remember the five-year-old version of myself, who was told she could never be a gymnast due to her flat feet. Performing the Produnova vault at the Rio Olympics will always remain a cherished highlight of my career. Although I am retiring, my relationship with gymnastics will always continue.” She expressed a desire to give back to the sport, stating her interest in mentoring and coaching aspiring gymnasts.

Dipa Karmakar: Indiaโ€™s Premier Gymnast

Dipa Karmakar hails from Tripura and is recognized as one of India’s foremost gymnasts. Throughout her career, she has brought immense pride to the nation by excelling in various prestigious competitions. Notably, in 2018, she clinched a gold medal at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup held in Mersin, Turkey, becoming the first Indian female gymnast to achieve this feat. In addition to her gold medal, Karmakar has earned a total of two medals at the Asian Championships.

However, her journey was not without challenges. In February 2023, Dipa faced a setback when she failed a doping test, which led to a ban that lasted until July 10, 2023. This incident served as a reminder of the challenges athletes encounter both on and off the field.
