CBSE announced they will conduct the final boards in two phases for the 10th-grade students, 2025-26. The first phase will be conducted in February and the second in May. The students can choose their examination phases or attempt both sessions.
CBSE 10th Board In Two Phases
As per the guidelines draft, the first phase of board exams will be held from February 17th to March 6th. The second phase will span from May 5th to the 20th. Both sessions will cover the whole syllabus in the same exam centers allotted. Both sessions will charge a registration fee, and the registrations will close in September. Therefore, the students will have to decide on the number of attempts they will make.
The list of the final candidates appearing for boards will be finalized in September. If a student goes unmentioned on the list, they will not be allowed to write the phase two exams in May. The final scorecard, or report card, will be released after the phase two exams in May. The scores displayed will be the best of two sessions, should a student choose to take exams in both phases.
Students Must Remember These While Registering
- The student must make sure that the subjects they are selecting are correct. They will not be allowed to appear for subjects they have not opted for while registering.
- A student can skip writing an exam in the first session and appear for it in the second session. Since CBSE already offers two chances, no re-exams will be conducted for a subject alone.
- However, if a student wishes to appear for phase two even after writing all their subjects in phase 1, they take exams for the same subjects as phase 1.
- The two-phase decision does not apply to practical assessments. Only one practical exam will be conducted in an academic year.
Subject Division
The exams a class 10 CBSE student will write include their mainstream subjects like Maths, Social, and Science and others like Language 1, Language 2, Regional and Foreign Languages, Elective 1, Elective 2, Elective 3, etc. The new guidelines will be open to public feedback till March 9th.
