BigBasket Merges BBdaily into Main App to Enhance Quick Commerce

In a strategic move to consolidate its offerings and strengthen its position in India’s rapidly evolving quick commerce landscape, BigBasket, a subsidiary of the Tata Group, has announced that its subscription service BBdaily will be fully integrated into the main BigBasket app within the next few months. By merging these two platforms, BigBasket aims to streamline its user experience and improve accessibility for its customers.

The Shift Towards Quick Commerce

Currently, BigBasket operates two distinct applications: the main BigBasket app and BBdaily, which focuses on subscription services. Additionally, the company offers specific delivery windows within the BigBasket app: the BigBasket SuperSaver, which facilitates delivery within a 2-3 hour window, and BBnow, designed for ultra-fast 10-20 minute deliveries. However, BigBasket is undergoing a significant transformation, shifting its focus entirely from the slotted delivery model to a predominantly quick commerce operation to better cater to customer preferences.

In an interview with industry media, CEO Hari Menon emphasized that this merger will provide a clearer picture of BigBasket’s scale and competitive positioning. He stated, “By December, we will integrate BBdaily into the main app, presenting it in the same consistent interface under the subscription section.” This merger is anticipated to unify their services, enhancing user engagement through a singular platform.

He predicted that profitability across all units is expected to materialize in the next 9-12 months, highlighting the promising results that the quick commerce segment has thus far delivered.
