Since the past year, Indian theatres have seen a rise in releases. The audience is offering re-released films a second chance, and Sanam Teri Kasam is winning people by a landslide! Initially released in 2016, Sanam Teri Kasam was declared a flop.

The re-release, however, flipped the tables with a worldwide box office collection of Rs 53.1 crore. As of day 17, the movie has bagged 25 lakhs despite the tough challenge from Chhaava. Latest reports show that Sanam Teri Kasam is a little less than 7 crores away from becoming the most successful re-released movieFor a movie with a budget of 18 crores, the profit of nearly 139% is jaw-dropping.

Sanam Teri Kasam Surpassed SRK’s Classic Hits

Shah Rukh’s films are known for their enchanting romance that remains relatable through various generations. But Sanam Teri Kasam is determined to make its name in the category.

Sanam Teri Kasam is a romantic tragedy enacted by Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane’s. The re-release of this film broke through the profits made from three of Bollywood’s classic tragic love stories. Shah Rukh Khan’s Kal Ho Naa Ho, Veer Zara, and Devdas! Box office reports suggest that Sanam Teri Kasam gained a profit of 138.3%, which is almost 239% higher than the profits of Veer Zara, Kal Ho Naa Ho, and Devdas combined.

Devdas spent 30 crores in the making but earned 41 crores at the box office. Meanwhile, Veer Zara reported a 50% profit on its collection of 33 crore. And Kal Ho Naa Ho won a 37.8% profit when its budget was 28 crore. The combined profits of these movies are only 40.75% against their total budget of 80 crores. 

Sanam Teri Kasam follows the story of a stern ex-convict, Inder (Harshvardhan Rane), and a traditional Telugu librarian Saru (Mawra Hocane). Against all odds and despite their romantic pasts and challenges, Inder and Saru fall in love and get married. But soon a tragedy engulfs their lives. Sanam Teri Kasam may have failed to reach the desired audience in 2016, but now, it’s the movie’s time to shine!
