The momentum continued into its second day, where it earned an additional ₹23.8 crore, bringing its total nett domestic collection to ₹55.5 crore.
Tamil Nadu Performance and Occupancy Rates
The film has particularly excelled in Tamil Nadu, grossing approximately ₹49.1 crore in the state alone during this period. On its second day, Vettaiyan recorded an overall Tamil occupancy of 58.53%, with Chennai leading the way at an impressive 72.5% across 1,042 shows. Bengaluru also contributed significantly, achieving a 44.5% occupancy from 455 shows.
Competitive Landscape and Future Projections
In comparison to other films released this year, Vettaiyan has outperformed Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2, which earned ₹43.8 crore over its first two days. However, it still trails behind Vijay’s GOAT, which collected around ₹70 crore in the same timeframe. Despite facing competition from films like Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video and Alia Bhatt’s Jigra, Vettaiyan is expected to maintain strong box office performance through the weekend, with projections suggesting it could exceed ₹70 crore in total domestic collections.
