Jay Shah Unveils BCCI’s State-of-the-Art NCA with 86 Pitches & Advanced Facilities

The cricketing world has witnessed a significant upgrade with the recent inauguration of the new National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Spearheaded by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and Board President Roger Binny, this state-of-the-art facility, now rebranded as the Center of Excellence (CoE), offers unparalleled resources for cricketers to hone their skills. Previously housed at the iconic Chinnaswamy Stadium since its establishment in 2000, the NCA has now moved to a sprawling new location near Kempegowda International Airport, symbolizing a new era for cricket training in India.

State-of-the-Art Facilities at the New NCA

The new Center of Excellence spans an impressive 40 acres, equipped with cutting-edge facilities designed to support players’ training needs. It boasts three world-class grounds and an astounding 86 pitches, carefully crafted to simulate various international conditions. Notably, 45 of these pitches are dedicated to outdoor practice, enabling numerous players to train simultaneously. This configuration allows for a more comprehensive training regime, preparing athletes for the rigors of international cricket.

In designing the pitches, the BCCI has taken into consideration various playing conditions prevalent in countries such as Australia, South Africa, and England. This strategic planning ensures that Indian players can efficiently acclimatize to different environments before embarking on international tours. Furthermore, the NCA features a modern indoor practice facility, allowing training sessions to continue uninterrupted in adverse weather conditions.

Advanced Rehabilitation and Training Facilities

In addition to the field facilities, the NCA has also established modern rehabilitation and training spaces for player wellness and performance. One of the standout features is an Olympic-size swimming pool, providing players a refreshing way to recover after intense training sessions. Complementing this are sophisticated sports science facilities aimed at injury management and rehabilitation, ensuring that athletes can recover quickly and return to peak performance.

The academy also includes 70 well-appointed rooms for players, offering them a comfortable and conducive environment for rest and rejuvenation. Furthermore, the NCA is not limited to cricket; it is also equipped to provide training for various other sports, including preparations for significant events such as the Olympics and Asian Games, reflecting the BCCI’s holistic approach to athlete development.

With an array of resources at their disposal, Indian cricketers now have an unmatched environment in which to train, develop skills, and prepare for both domestic and international challenges. The new NCA not only enhances the landscape of Indian cricket but also significantly contributes to nurturing future champions.
