Haryana Elections 2024: Amit Shah Criticizes Congress for Broker Rule

Union Home Minister Amit Shah Criticizes Congress in Haryana Election Rally

During an election rally held in Rewari, Union Home Minister Amit Shah presented a strong critique of the previous Congress government in Haryana. His remarks echoed those of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, suggesting that the state was under the influence of “dealers, brokers, and son-in-laws” before the rise of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Shah’s comments come as Haryana prepares for its upcoming assembly elections, scheduled for October 5, with results to be announced on October 8.

Critique of Congress Rule

Amit Shah described the previous term of Congress as plagued by “cuts, commissions, and corruption”, asserting that these issues plagued governance and hindered progress. He emphasized that under the BJP’s leadership, the presence of dealers and brokers has been eradicated, thereby improving the state’s governance and policies.

Targeting Farmer Welfare Claims

Shah did not hold back in his attacks on Congress regarding their handling of farmer welfare. “The rule of dealers, brokers, and son-in-laws continued. There are neither dealers nor brokers left in the BJP government,” he stated, showcasing the party’s commitment to transparency and accountability. He further accused the Congress party of misleading farmers about the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops, claiming that the BJP government is actively buying 24 types of crops at MSP. Shah challenged Congress leaders to explain why their governance in other states had not similarly supported farmers.

Questioning Rahul Gandhi’s Knowledge

In an attempt to undermine Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Shah remarked that Gandhi does not know the difference between Rabi and Kharif crops. He sarcastically quipped, “Some NGOs have told Rahul Gandhi that they will get votes by calling it MSP. Rahul Baba, do you know the full form of MSP? Do you understand the differences between the Kharif and Rabi seasons?” This comment aimed to portray Gandhi as uninformed and out of touch with agricultural issues, further consolidating the BJP’s narrative that they are the true champions of farmer interests.

Defending Reservation Policies

Shah also addressed comments made by Rahul Gandhi regarding reservations for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC). He criticized Gandhi for indicating a willingness to eliminate such reservations, especially during his speech abroad. “As long as there is even a single BJP MP in Parliament, you cannot end the reservation,” Shah declared, reinforcing the BJP’s commitment to maintaining social equity and justice for marginalized communities.

Conclusion

As the Haryana assembly elections approach, Amit Shah’s remarks reflect the BJP’s strategy to highlight alleged failures of the Congress-led governance while fostering an image of transparent and equitable administration under their party. With the elections just around the corner, the political atmosphere in Haryana is intensifying, and the BJP aims to reinforce its support among voters by positioning itself as the advocate for farmers and the common citizen.
