Severe Weather Alert: Heavy Rain Hits Maharashtra, Mumbai; Latest Updates for Delhi, UP, & Bihar

Monsoon Conditions and Heavy Rainfall Across India

The monsoon season continues to grip various states in India, with its departure appearing to be further delayed. After a brief hiatus, the monsoons have reestablished themselves in multiple regions, leading to heavy rainfall in states including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. The current situation in Maharashtra is particularly severe, with the state experiencing relentless downpours, significantly affecting daily life and infrastructure.

Impact of Heavy Rains in Maharashtra

Maharashtra, especially its financial capital Mumbai, has been severely impacted by the ongoing heavy rains. The Meteorological Department has predicted little chance of respite for residents in the next three days, indicating continued rainfall. This has already led to tragic consequences, with reports stating that 4 individuals have lost their lives due to the severe weather conditions. Flooding and waterlogging have rendered many roads impassable, making it extremely challenging for citizens to commute to work or engage in daily activities. In light of the weather forecast, schools and colleges in several areas have been temporarily closed for safety.

Weather Forecast for Delhi

In contrast to the heavy rainfall witnessed in other states, the capital city of Delhi is expected to experience relatively mild weather. The Meteorological Department has forecasted light rain with potential thunderstorms for today, September 27, 2024. The city’s temperatures are estimated to hover between a maximum of 33 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 24 degrees Celsius. The weather is expected to remain cloudy in the following days, specifically from September 29 to October 2, with no significant rainfall predicted during this period. The maximum temperature could reach up to 36 degrees Celsius.

Conditions in Bihar and Madhya Pradesh

In Bihar, heavy rain is anticipated in various districts, including Bhagalpur, Gaya, Jamui, Chhapra, and Patna, leading the Meteorological Department to issue a yellow alert. Additionally, the weather in Madhya Pradesh will see rain and thunderstorms in districts such as Bhopal, Guna, Gwalior, Chhindwara, and Datia, indicating potential disruptions in everyday life.

Weather Outlook for Punjab and Haryana

The neighboring states of Punjab and Haryana, along with Chandigarh, are expected to enjoy clear skies today. The weather forecast suggests that this pattern of clear weather will persist until late October, providing a reprieve for residents in these states.

Himalayan Regions and West Bengal Forecast

In Himachal Pradesh, rain alerts have been issued across several districts, including Shimla, Sirmaur, Kangra, Chamba, Solan, Kullu, and Mandi, with precipitation expected to affect daily activities. Similarly, West Bengal is bracing for heavy rainfall, particularly in districts such as Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, and Cooch Behar. The forecast suggests a mixed pattern of rain and sunshine on September 28, followed by another bout of heavy rain on September 29.
