UPSC Mains Exam Begins Today: Only These Candidates Gain Entry!

The UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) exam is renowned for being one of the most challenging examinations in India. Candidates who succeed in this rigorous process are selected for esteemed positions such as IAS (Indian Administrative Services), IPS (Indian Police Services), and IFS (Indian Foreign Services). The UPSC examination comprises three crucial phases: the prelims, mains, and the interview. As of today, 20 September 2024, the UPSC Mains exam has officially commenced, with assessments conducted in two shifts. The exam will kick off with the essay paper during the morning shift. It’s essential for candidates to note that without their e-admit card, entry to the exam center will be denied.

Important Guidelines: Prohibited Items at the Exam Centre

  • Candidates are strictly prohibited from bringing mobile phones or any electronic devices to the examination center, regardless of whether they’re switched off or not.
  • Items such as programming devices, pen drives, smart watches, cameras, and Bluetooth devices are not allowed inside the exam hall.
  • Books, bags, and similar items are also forbidden in the examination center.
  • Carrying inflammable items, including matchsticks and cigarette lighters, to the examination center is strictly prohibited.
  • Candidates should refrain from bringing valuables, including jewelry, into the examination hall or premises, as the UPSC cannot guarantee their safety. If such items are brought, they do so at their own risk.

What Candidates Can Bring to the Exam Centre

  • Only the e-admit card, pen, pencil, photo ID proof, and recent photographs are permitted to be carried into the examination center.
  • Candidates are urged to arrive at the exam center on time, as no entries will be allowed 30 minutes before the exam commences. Latecomers will be prohibited from taking the exam, regardless of the circumstances.

UPSC Mains Exam 2024 Schedule: Key Dates

The second day of the UPSC Mains exam is set for 21 September 2024, featuring Paper II (General Studies I) and Paper III (General Studies II) over two shifts. The first shift is scheduled from 9 AM to 12 PM, followed by the second shift running from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. On 22 September, candidates will sit for Paper IV (General Studies III) in the morning shift and Paper V (General Studies IV) in the afternoon shift.

Subsequently, on 28 September, the examination for Paper-A (Indian Language) will occur in the first shift, while Paper-B (English) will be conducted in the second shift. Finally, on 29 September, Paper VI (Optional Subject – Paper 1) and Paper VII (Optional Subject – Paper 2) will be held during the first shift.
