Kangana Ranaut Exposes Bollywood Exploitation: ‘I Was Threatened for Refusing…’

In recent times, Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has made headlines not just for her films but for her candid revelations regarding the treatment of women in the film industry. Known for her outspoken nature, Kangana is currently gearing up for the release of her much-anticipated film, Emergency, which she has also directed.

Kangana Ranaut’s Stance on Bollywood’s Treatment of Women

During a recent event, Kangana shed light on the harsh realities that women face in Bollywood. She expressed her discontent with the industry’s treatment of female artists, stating that many are subjected to exploitation. “You don’t know how Bollywood people exploit women,” she asserted, highlighting the predatory behavior that some industry members exhibit.

Making Serious Allegations

Kangana brought attention to the alarming incidents of harassment, recalling the infamous Kolkata rape case as a grim reminder of the dangers that women often encounter. “People have threatened me with rape many times,” she disclosed, indicating that these threats are not uncommon and that the fear is all too real for many women in the industry.

Women’s Value in Society and the Workplace

Reflecting on broader societal issues, Kangana stated, “What is done to women in the workplace is deeply troubling.” She recounted experiences of young women facing lewd comments from college boys, asserting that the treatment of women in Bollywood mirrors these societal problems. “Bollywood stars are no less than anyone else in this regard,” she noted, emphasizing that the industry’s elite do not always uphold the values of respect and dignity for women.

A Bold Reflection on Industry Practices

In her remarks, Kangana referenced the legendary choreographer Saroj Khan, who once remarked that while industry insiders can be exploitative, they also offer opportunities (“give bread”). Kangana underscored the truth in this statement, lamenting that refusal to comply with certain demands can lead to severe consequences, including threats of violence.

As the release date for Emergency approaches, Kangana continues to advocate for change within the industry. With her previous project, Tejas, where she portrayed an Air Force officer, and her current work as both actress and director, she is positioning herself as a voice for change in a system that needs reform.

Kangana Ranaut’s willingness to speak out about the problems facing women in Bollywood not only raises awareness but also encourages dialogue around the need for a safer and more respectful working environment for all women in the entertainment industry.
