Yogi Government to Offer Interest-Free Loans up to Rs 5 Lakh for 8th Pass Youth Employment

Uttar Pradesh Launches ‘Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan’

The Uttar Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has recently initiated the
‘Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan’ aimed at promoting self-employment opportunities for the youth in the state.
This ambitious scheme was ratified during a cabinet meeting on October 1, which sought to enhance the state’s
economic landscape by tapping into the potential of the youth.

Key Objectives of the Scheme

The focal point of the scheme is to empower a significant number of educated and trained individuals by connecting them
with self-employment ventures. With a vision to establish 10 lakh micro units over the next decade, the initiative will
provide financial support to a target of one lakh youths each year. This support will notably favor those with
vocational training and education up to the intermediate level.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the benefits under this scheme, applicants must have completed at least the eighth grade. However,
preference will be given to those who have completed higher secondary education (class 12). Additionally, applicants
must undergo training under various government schemes such as the Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana and the One District
One Product Scheme.

Financial Assistance and Benefits

The ‘Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan’ will offer loans of up to Rs 5 lakh, interest-free, for establishing
micro businesses. This initiative addresses the critical need for financial backing among aspiring entrepreneurs,
facilitating their journey into self-employment. Youth benefiting from the initiative for the first time will also
have the potential to avail of a second phase offering financial aid for projects totaling up to Rs 10 lakh.

Subsidies and Digital Incentives

Besides the interest-free loans, participants in this scheme will be eligible for subsidies on loans for micro-enterprises
and service sector projects reaching up to Rs 5 lakh. The government is also promoting digital transactions within the
framework of this initiative, providing an additional grant of Re 1 per transaction and a total maximum benefit of Rs
2000 per year.

Supporting Agricultural Development

In tandem with ‘Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan’, the Uttar Pradesh government has also approved the
‘UP Agris Yojana’, a targeted initiative aimed at boosting agricultural productivity, particularly in
Bundelkhand and Eastern Uttar Pradesh. This strategy focuses on enhancing farmers’ income through
region-specific projects aimed at overcoming the challenges faced by these agricultural areas.

Strengthening Higher Education

To further bolster the youth’s prospects, the cabinet has ratified the ‘Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Promotion
Policy, 2024’. This comprehensive policy aims to attract private investment in the higher education sector, ensuring
that students can access high-quality education within the state. Through incentives such as stamp duty exemptions and
capital subsidies, the government aims to foster the establishment of private universities, which will create both direct
and indirect employment opportunities for young individuals.

Conclusion

The ‘Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan’ is poised to make a significant impact on the employment landscape
in Uttar Pradesh. Together with initiatives supporting agriculture and higher education, it demonstrates the
government’s commitment to empowering the youth and transforming the state’s economy through entrepreneurship and skill
development.
