The controversy started after Kamal Haasan said, “Kannada is born out of Tamil”. This sparked protests and a ban threat from local groups. Soon, the matter was escalated to the Karnataka High Court, and it was suggested to apologize. But this time Supreme Court also jumped in and said, ‘mobs can’t decide what hits the big screen. Any film with a censor certificate must be released, and burning-theatre threats are a no-go’.

OTT Release Date

As per reports, Netflix has already taken the digital streaming rights of the movie ‘Thug Life’. The deal was made for Rs 130 crores as it was expected to become a hit. But unfortunately, the reality is completely different. As the movie fails to perform well at the box office, Netflix is asking for a Rs 25 crore or more deduction in digital rights payment.
