Retro is Suriya and Pooja Hegde’s new thriller that people eagerly looked forward to. The trailer was released yesterday and is currently trending #1 on YouTube. The setting, appearance, and costumes of the lead actors are in sync with the movie’s title. Suriya displayed a spectrum of emotions in the 2-minute 50-second, 50-second-long trailer. Anger, love, happiness, bravery, and frustration. The trailer is a “cool” and “mass” celebration of what Suriya fans love him for.
Suriya promises his wife that he will leave violence behind for her; he promises her that he will stop fighting rowdies and participating in street fights and will steer clear of such a life for her. She believes him, but Suriya’s habits get the best of him. Despite his control, he succumbs to his old habits and falls back into the ways of a local gangster.
Besides Pooja and Suriya, the trailer shows Joju George, Jayaram, Karunakaran, and Nassar in their mafia-boss-like antagonist roles. Retro has various characters, each with a unique element bridging the plot points, story, and other characters.
Retro Movie Release Date
The long-awaited Tamil-language film Retro, starring Suriya and Pooja Hegde, is scheduled for dramatic release worldwide on May 1, 2025. The romantic action movie was originally declared “Suriya 44” before its official title. The day for international workers, who will launch a four-day weekend in India.

Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Retro is produced by the couple Jyotika – Suriya’s banner 2D Entertainment and Stone Bench Films. Santosh Narayan composed the music and songs for the film, Shreyas Krishna was responsible for Cinematography, and Shafique Mohamed Ali edited the film.
The film was officially announced as Suriya 44, marking the actor’s 44th film, and was made on a budget of 65 Crores. The movie will be released in all languages nationwide on 1st May 2025.
