On 14th February’s episode in Hafta Vasooli he presented a satirical take on political and cultural events in a newsroom style. The episode featured guests Sharib Hashmi and Vivian Dsena and Saqib Saleem. Inspite of being a comedy show it got criticism from audiences for allegedly disrespecting multiple religions and cultural values. This could negatively influence young viewers.

The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti also called for a ban on the show Hafta Vasooli saying Faruqui’s inappropriate language is unsuitable for public consumption and needed to be stopped from streaming in OTT platforms.

This incident occurs amid broader discussions about comedic freedom in India, particularly as another comedian faces backlash for a controversial remark made during a different show. The situation sparked debates about the balance between satire and respect for cultural sensitivities in comedy.

Till now Munawar Faruqui has not publicly responded to these allegations. The future of Hafta Vasooli remains uncertain as it continues to stream amidst ongoing scrutiny from both legal authorities and public opinion.
