L2 Empuraan is the second part of Lucifer, which was released in 2019. Due to COVID and certain revisions made to the story by the writer, Murali Gopy, Lucifer took nearly 5 years to return to screens. The wait was worth it, as fans and critics were given fresh plotlines and justified character developments.

With a worldwide collection of over 260 Crores, Empuraan became Mollywood’s biggest movie ever. Empuraan crossed records on the first day by gathering 21 Crores at the box office and joined the 100 crore club this week. The movie makers celebrated their success on social media and expressed gratitude for all the love and support.

L2 Empuraan Controversy

Zayed Massod, one of the main characters in Empuraan, was introduced through the Gujarat riots of 2002. Many felt that the depiction of the riots was inappropriate and that move industries should not take away from the pain of the horrible events and monetise on it.

The makers have already acknowledged the problem and apologized to the public and the hurt parties. They said it wasn’t their intention to hurt anyone’s feelings and that it was an honest mistake. Following protests and demands from various political parties, the director Prithviraj ordered  24 new cuts. The latest version of Empuraan now has 2 minutes and seconds less than the original, which was released on 27th March.
