Kesari Chapter 2 was released today, and the buzz is nowhere near the end. Theatre houses are flooded with fans and history enthusiasts. Kesari 2 gained nearly three crores from the pre-release booking spree, and today, Sachnilk reported earnings of over 26 lakhs in the morning hours.

The figure is subject to changes and updates as the day progresses. Critics and reviewers say Kesari 2 may gather more than six crores on the opening day. The feat seems achievable based on factors like story, narratives, cast, and makers. Kesari 2 was reportedly made on a budget of 100-150 crores. Only time will tell if Kesari 2 can recover its expenditure and cross benchmarks in the movie industry.

The Kesari Franchise

Kesari 1, released in 2019, starring Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra, was a huge hit. The movie celebrated and rediscovered the history once been forgotten. It depicted the bravery and resilience of the Sikh soldiers who sacrificed themselves for culture, traditions, the country, and its people.

Kesari 2, though not a sequel to the story of Kesari 1, carries the spirit and the legacy. Earlier this month, Akshay Kumar revealed that the legacy will continue and that Kesari 3 is in the planning stage. He told a few media reports that the third instalment might be based on the Sikh warrior General Hari Singh Nalwa.

About Kesari 2: Story And Cast

Kesari 2 shows what India looked like after the tragic Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. When shots were ruthlessly fired at an innocent gathering, the colonial rulers marked it as their victory. A lawyer, C. Sankaran Nair, called out on the British’s cowardice and ruthlessness and took the case to court to give every shred of justice he could. Kesari 2 shows the struggles of Sankaran Nair, the harsh truths about the massacre, and remembers the innocent lives lost 106 years ago.

Kesari 2 is based on a book, ‘ The Case That Shook the Empire’ by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat. Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and supported by Dharma Productions, the film casts Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, who plays the lawyer that defends the British, Ananya Panday, who adds a modern touch to the film, Regina Cassandra, Simon Paisley Day, and Alexx O’Nell play key supporting roles.
