The well-known Bollywood director and actor Anurag Kashyap has moved out of Mumbai to settle in Bangalore. The director said that he wanted to distance himself from the hind-film industry as it has become too “toxic.”
During an earlier interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Anurag talked about his frustration with the Bollywood industry and with the way the Hindi film industry conducted their business- by giving creativity less significance. In that interview, Anurag discussed his plans to move south.
Anurag Kashyap Leavs Toxic Hindi Film Industry
According to The Hindu, Anurag Kashyap will continue working on his career from Bangalore. He has permanently moved away from Mumbai and Bollywood. He also added the creative liberty in the Hindi film industry is dying, and people care only about chasing money and the box office numbers.
What the Director Says about Bollywood
Anurag also added, “I’ve left Mumbai. I want to stay away from film people. The industry has become too toxic. Everyone is chasing unrealistic targets and trying to make the next Rs 500- 800 crore film. The creative atmosphere is gone.”
Further emphasizing his feelings, Anurag said, “A city is not just a structure but also its people. People here… they pull you down.”
Anurag Kashyap is known for his unique films and roles all over India. Gagas Of Waseypur, directed by him, was a fresh one in Bollywood. While working in the negative role in the Tamil film Maharaja, he expressed his admiration for the creative freedom in the Southern film industry.
Currently, Anurag Kashyap is promoting the Hindi release of his latest Malayalam Film, Footage. He also plans to work on different Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam movies.
