Ground Zero marks Emraan Hashmi’s comeback to the big screen after two years. The movie was released today, the 25th of April, and so far, the box office is struggling to gain an audience. Ground Zero is not the only patriotic film running in theatres right now; its competition, Kesari 2: The Untold Story Of The Jallianwala Bagh, led by Akshay Kumar, R. Madhavan and Ananya Panday, could be bearing rather heavily. Critics and movie-lovers say Ground Zero might be another flop in Emraan Hashmi’s career.

Ground Zero Box Office Day 1

According to Sachnilk, the movie tracker, the movie earned a little over Rs. 0.06 Cr since its release. Other reports and channels stated that Ground Zero sold over 4000 movie tickets in prominent theatre chains like PVR Inox and Cinepolis. Critics speculated that the opening day may earn the movie no more than 80-90 lakhs. The film was completed with 20-25 Crores in budget, and most of the shooting took place in Kashmir. We’ll find out in due course if Ground Zero can recover its expenditure and reach the standard Box Office goalposts.

Netizens’ Reaction To Ground Zero

The movie’s patriotic soul appealed to the watchers, however, people didn’t appreciate the emphasis on Emraan Hashmi’s heroism over the movie and his character. A reviewer wrote, “Another fake propaganda on Kashmir…Poor story and screenplay.” Another said, “Just watched Ground Zero. So happy to note that nearly 80 percent of the movie was shot in Kashmir. The film details the spectacular story of BSF DIG NND Dubey and the killing of Ghazi Baba. A realistic movie with minimal Bollywood melodrama.”
