Legendary Tamil Ajith Kumar’s 63rd film, Good Bad Ugly, started its run in theatres today. The hype created by the cast, makers and trailers failed to light up the theatres as many critics and fans don’t believe the movie will have a successful course. The producers, Mytri Films, who usually produce Telugu films, marked their debut in the Tamil Film industry with Good Bad Ugly. The mix of Ravichandran as the director, Trisha as the female lead and Ajith Kumar’s colossal fan base set high expectations. The first day, however, is gaining mixed reviews, and, frankly, the box office is staring at a downward graph.
Good Bad Ugly Telugu: Box Office
Ajith Kumar’s fans are spread out around the world. They are concentrated the most in South India, especially in Telugu and Tamil Nadu. Based on this fan following, people expected Telugu theatres to have a good number of sold-out tickets and box office collections; the reality, however, is a different story.
Many have reported that the movie may not reach 1 crore on its opening day. Reports say that domestic and international reviews on social media convince people to distance themselves from films.
Good Bad Ugly Reviews
Many say it’s a must-watch for Ajith Kumar fans while emphasizing the ‘fans.’ Reviews stated that the movie’s first half does not carry a plot line and instead focuses on the stardom, slow motion walks, baseless violence and over-highlighting Ajith Kumar as the “hero” of the film. The dialogues are filled with references to Ajith Kumar’s old works. All things concluded the move was a “fan service,” people said.
A reviewer said, “First half is a pure fan service to Ajith and filled with many references. Not much of a story…So far it does not bore and is fairly engaging.” Another wrote, “Energetic AK. Its all about Buildups, Slow Motion Walks & Fights. Treat for Fans. No Story or Emotions.” Another wrote, “Just Ajit fanboy show. Not enough… Not even one scene is original.”
Amid the negative reviews, the fans say they thoroughly enjoy themselves and have “a blast in the theatres.” A fan wrote, “A complete theatrical experience with lots of vintage moments of thala(Ak) crafted by Aadhik. Ajith’s humor worked very well. Blockbuster for sure” Another AK fan wrote, “Ajith is magnetic on screen, effortlessly portraying shades of grit, charm, and intensity.”
