19% YoY Growth! Mahindra beats Auto Giant Hyundai in February Sales

India has a very loyal and enthusiastic auto market. Companies and carmakers like Mahindra, Hyundai, Tata Motors, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, and Kia are prominent competitors here. As the year progresses, excitement for Mahindra’s new launches, like its new EVs, the BE 6 and XEV 9e, rises steadily. On the other hand, carmakers like Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, and Kia plan to advertise their new launches just a few months away. 

Mahindra February Auto Sales

100% of Mahnidra’s PV (Passenger Vehicles) were SUVs. Mahindra has sold 50,420 units sold in February 2025. This makes a Year-on-year growth of 19% compared to the 42,401 units sold in the same period last year. The year-to-date comparison between February 24 and February 25 shows a 20% growth. Mahindra sold 503,439 SUVs in February 2025, compared to 419,233 units in February 2024.

Looking at Mahindra’s SUV sales performance Veejay Nakra, President, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd said: “…This strong performance is a result of a continued positive momentum for our SUV portfolio.”

The exports and domestic sales of Mahindra tractors account for 25,527 units, an 18% improvement from February 2024’s 21,672 units. Exports recorded 1,647 units. Mahindra sold a total of 30,221 Commercial Vehicles in February 2025.

Hyundai February Auto Sales

Hyundai recorded a 16.9% overall growth in its auto sales in February 2025 compared to February last year. Hyundai’s domestic sales report 47,727 units sold and 11,000 units exported. This makes export sales grow by 6.8%.

Tarun Garg, full-time director and Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai Motor India stated: “With a 6.8% Year-on-year growth in export sales in February 2025, we are witnessing increasing global demand for our Made-in-India products, This reflects Hyundai’s strong acceptance worldwide. By optimizing exports, we will continue to reinforce HMIL’s position as a key export hub for Hyundai Motor Company. On the Domestic Sales front, despite geopolitical challenges, we remain optimistic that the proposed tax reforms in the Union Budget 2025 and improved liquidity will provide the much-needed demand boost to the market.”

Tata Motors February Auto Sales

In February 2025, Tata Motors recorded a 9% decline in its Passenger Vehicles (PVs) sales in the Indian market. According to data, Tata Motors sold 46,435 PVs last month, 4,832 less than February 2024 sales of 51,267 units. The exports, however, reflect a growth of 596%, recording a shipment of 376 units.

Maruti Suzuki February Auto Sales

In February 2025, Maruti Suzuki India Limited sold 1,99,400 units. 

  • Domestic sales account for 1,63,501 units.
  • OEM sales account for 10,878 units.
  • Exported vehicles account for 25,021 units

The carmaker’s PV sales performance did not improve significantly. Compared to February 2024, Maruti sold a little over 500 vehicles in the country.

The company’s UVs- Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, and XL6 – recorded sales of 65,033 vehicles last month.

OLA Electric February Auto Sales

Despite a plummet in the number of registrations in February 2025 compared to January 2025, Ola came ahead of its competitors by occupying 28% of the market. It sold nearly 25,000 electric two-wheelers this month.
